The goal of this introduction workshop is to support the schools to create an inclusive environment encouraging children to understand and accept diversity in the classroom. Research has found that the neurodiverse students may experience peer rejection in classrooms whereby little positive interactions occur between the children in the classroom (Coster et al., 2013; Locke et al., 2010; Raghavendra et al., 2012). Learning to be caring and inclusive benefits all children.

In this workshop, schools will learn about:

  • teaching about understanding and accepting diversity in the classroom.

  • investigating further when coming across learning difficulties in the classroom.

  • using positive methods to empower children in their learning.

  • implementing strategies to encourage children to have more positive interactions with each other.
